Train Leaves Here This Morning
The ByrdBrains...are an amazing assemblage of talented individuals that formed in Portland, Oregon,
USA, back in the early part of 2005. The credit for the genesis of this concept actually came from the mind of master guitarist/songwriter,Andrew Gold. Andrew had decided to form a tribute to The Byrds before The ByrdBrains;
a project known as
Byrds
of A Feather.
Hearing that final decisions for
Byrds
of A Feather had been already made, and knowing that it was
too late for him to be part
BOAF,
our own Iain McLennon made a few phone calls of his own to some old, and new
friends, all of whom responded in a most positive way to the concept
of putting together a tribute with the focus, in the beginning,
being the music of The Byrds.
Expanding upon the range
of material to be covered, The
ByrdBrains perform not only the songs
of the original band, but many of those recorded by the various
incarnations of The
Byrds, David
Crosby, Gene
Clark, Chris
Hillman,
Michael Clarke, and Roger
McGuinn as solo artists, and soon beyond! Stay tuned for our
definition of what we mean by "beyond." That will be coming up;
well soon.
As with The Byrds, the focal
sound of The ByrdBrains
is the signature sound of the Rickenbacker 12-string guitar. First played
by George Harrison in The Beatles' first movie A Hard Day's Night,
it provided the essential inspiration to Jim McGuinn, and David Crosby,
to form The Byrds.
In The ByrdBrains,
Iain McLennon plays a 1985 Rickenbacker 370RM
Roger McGuinn Signature 12-string. This guitar is beautiful, and
authentic in every detail to the one that Roger played, and is #98 of only 1000 produced.
Don't miss The ByrdBrains
if you have a chance to catch them...it's like listening to a
recording of The Byrds...only live.
